Treatment Services

Assessment and Evaluation
Once an adolescent has been admitted to one of the programs, our multidisciplinary team works with each adolescent to develop a comprehensive individualized treatment plan within days of admission. The treatment plan will utilize a multimodal approach to challenge faulty beliefs, teach alternative ways of getting needs meet, and restore hope. The treatment team delivers innovative approaches originating with an extensive medical history, physical assessment, and a physical exam from a medical practitioner. Other clinical assessments include a comprehensive assessment of academics, nutrition, leisure skills, drug history, strengths, weaknesses, and past family interactions in preparation for family therapy.

Family Therapy
Family therapy is one of the central facets to our programs. We work closely with the family throughout treatment, integrating the whole support system in the therapy process. Family therapy helps prepare the family to support the constructive changes the adolescent has made in treatment and helps all of the family members examine their own struggles. Without adequate integration, families are likely to repeat negative patterns of interaction that sabotage the gains the adolescent has made in treatment.

Group Therapy
The adolescent will benefit from daily psycho-educational groups designed to provide a safe family-like environment in which fears, disappointments, and victories can be shared. Adolescents cultivate lifelong friendships and candidly provide feedback to each other as the group is facilitated by an experienced therapist. Groups remain small and intimate with a high staff to client ratio. Some sample groups titles include anger management, self esteem, conflict resolution, music/art and recovery, healing the addicted mind, and relapse prevention.

Academics

Academics instruction is a vital part of the treatment process. During the preadmission phase an initial academic assessment history takes place. A decision is made regarding which instructional program will be most suitable for a client to participate in. Adolescents can either remain enrolled in their current school or enroll in academics thru Adolescent Growth. Academic credit is available in our residential and partial programs. Instruction remains individualized with classroom sizes of 6-10. The care and structure provided within the academic component of treatment serves to allow clients to gain a sense of pride and accomplishment associated with school. Certified teachers, an academic facilitator and affiliation with an accredited school is all offered at Adolescent Growth.

12-Step and Spirituality
Adolescent Growth embraces 12 step group participation and adolescents are given the opportunity to attend 12 step meetings 5x per week to address addictions. The meetings attended are carefully chosen as to ensure that "young people’s" meetings are experienced. Moreover, Adolescent Growth offers researched based participation in yoga, prayer, meditation, spirituality groups, relaxation techniques and church attendance. Allowing each child to embrace their spiritual beliefs is an avenue that sets Adolescent Growth apart from other treatment facilities.

Physical Fitness
Clients are encouraged to regain a sense of activity and physical exertion. Clients participate in a combination of weight training and cardio exercise five times a week to provide natural endorphins and rejuvenate their bodies. Clients quickly welcome the activity and often rediscover a love for the outdoors and physical activity to replace depressed low motivation and energy that may be present upon intake.

Recreational Therapy
we utilize non-traditional methods to further provide the adolescents with an opportunity to foster coping skills, dream, set future goals, and to put into practice newly learned behaviors. Each weekend adolescents are afforded the opportunity to experience the community in a fresh manner free from past pessimistic constraints. Adolescents are exposed to museums, operas, aquariums, and theatre. Leisure skills building also include additional activities such as volunteering, horseback riding, bowling, movies, and miniature golf.

We offer the most enriched therapeutic experience available to adolescents. It is our aim to impact adolescents emotional, mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially in order to effect change. The combination of these services gives both the parents and clients the opportunity to regain mutual respect, motivation, and a positive attitude about their future together.
