Nothing can compare to the anguish felt when you realize that your child has to go into treatment. Initially, you may have doubted, minimized or even normalized the behaviors. But something happened.
Something that was significant enough to cause you to investigate further. Maybe suddenly there were now academic problems, social problems or even legal problems that your child faced. Maybe eating and sleeping are being impacted, hygiene is becoming an issue and other maladaptive behaviors are starting to surface (i.e., cutting, angry outbursts, aggression, etc).
So you decided to try to solve the problem the best way you could. Maybe you talked, screamed, rationalized, or even got others involved (therapists, school counselors, police etc). Regardless of the temporary fixes, today reality has set in: the behaviors still exist and change has to occur. You realize now that you and your family cannot go on living this way. Moreover, the stress is now starting to be displayed in your life and is impacting other areas for you, i.e., marital discord, financial strains, employment distress, etc.

Assessment and Evaluation
From the first phone call of inquiry, Adolescent Growth strives to set itself apart from any other treatment experience. Our trained admissions department staff will lovingly take time with you to hear your story and to empathize with you. Further, we will explain the program and provide an accurate over view so that you are well equipped to make the best decision for your child. At Adolescent Growth we provide free telephone assessments that include insurance benefit verification and history gathering. We do not waste your time by having you to come to the facility. Rather, we provide technologic savvy means of acquiring your information that is sophisticated enough to require password code protection and yet simple enough for someone who is not a computer guru to perform.
The accounting department will then check your benefits and explain to you what services your insurance covers. And the doctors will review the historical information gathered to ensure that this will be a good fit for your child and your family. We are mindful of time, therefore, turnaround time for scheduling an admission can be as brief as 24 hours when there is no waiting list.
Once an adolescent has been admitted to one of the programs, our multidisciplinary team works with the adolescent to develop a comprehensive individualized treatment plan within days of admission. The treatment plan will utilize a multimodal approach to challenge faulty beliefs, teach alternative ways of getting needs meet, and restore hope.
The skilled clinician will also begin to impact the family by setting up a family session within 72 hours of admission. The adept treatment team delivers innovative approaches that are researched based and proven to be the most effective in equipping adolescents that are struggling with the skills needed for long term success.
The assessment originates with an extensive medical history, physical assessment, and a physical exam from a medical practitioner. Other clinical assessments include a comprehensive assessment of academics, nutrition, leisure skills, drug history, strengths, weaknesses, and past family interactions in preparation for family therapy.
Psychological batteries/testing may also be utilized to aid in diagnosing, measuring outcome success and in conjunction with school based measures such as IEPs in order to provide longer term treatment if needed.
