Sieu Hinh received her B.S. in Biology from the University of San Francisco with minors in Japanese and Chemistry in 2000. She went on to start medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where she completed 3 years of medical school before deciding that becoming a physician was not the path she wanted for her life. During her clinical rotations while in medical school at various county, public, and private hospitals in the Los Angeles area she realized that there was a lack of continuity of care for many adolescents after discharging from the hospital. She is now dedicated to helping families find the resources available to them to assure that they get the best healthcare follow up that they can. Sieu currently works as the Director of Operations and she specializes in working with the psychiatrist to help facilitate the education of the clients about their psychiatric medications as well as the distribution of the medications. She also helps parents with discharge planning and finding resources for their children after the client discharges from the facility. Sieu’s kind heart and inviting spirit is evident as she leads and trains the team. She enjoys spending time with her cherished husband, playing with her two “fat” cats and being a conesouir of fine food during her time away from work.
Adolescent Growth Inc provides comprehensive short-term residential in-patient, partial hospitalization (day treatment), and intensive outpatient services for male and female youths, ages twelve through seventeen, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties which are manifested in mood disturbances and/or substance abuse.
We offer proven methods of turning around the lives of teenagers inundated by emotional and behavioral problems. Our compassionate treatment team works in a unique six bed environment which provides the individualized attention that a large facility is not capable of offering. We address the overt addictive behaviors along with underlying core issues surrounding the problematic responses. Our aim is to empower families with the knowledge, tools and skills that will effect positive change and thereby transform a troubled adolescent's life.
We utilize a unique blend of traditional therapeutic approaches with creative innovative clinically proven methods to bring about change. Specific treatment approaches that are used include: cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, brief therapy, solution focused therapy, reality therapy, art therapy, (DBT) dialectical behavioral therapy, 12-step interventions and others. We individualize treatment for each client to address their specific needs.
Our treatment brings together a diverse creative team designed to provide long term healing. The staff is comprised of caring, dedicated persons specializing in the treatment of dually diagnosed adolescents. Our team is headed by a renowned psychiatrist with an expertise in child and adolescent psychiatry, the director of operations with years of experience treating suffering minors, the clinical director who specializes in educating dual diagnosed minors and their parents and both licensed and Master's level therapists who have devoted their lives to help equip youth to make better decisions. Additional personnel include floor leads, program managers, mental health specialists, educational counselors and consulting clinicians who were selected based upon their knowledge, character, and deep commitment to healing. Our treatment team meets weekly to review each client's treatment plan for progressions. Clients are also given feedback each week on their progress by our treatment team and their peers. Parents are also given weekly updates regarding treatment as the family is an integral member of the treatment team.
Discharge planning begins at intake. The multidisciplinary team works together to generate an individualized discharge plan in collaboration with the client and the family. Specific appointments and referrals are made prior to discharge and those appointments and referrals are included in the recommendations. Both the client and the parent are equipped with the necessary tools, and referrals to maintain the healing that has taken place while in treatment. At discharge, the client and the parents sign the form along with the therapist. The family is then given a copy to take with them upon departure.
The transition from residential to outpatient treatment is seen as crucial to the continued healing of each client at Adolescent Growth. We have therefore designed a unique approach that includes clients transitioning home by stepping down to our partial program. Clients are then given the opportunity to have the continued support of the therapeutic environment coupled with being at home. After clients have successfully transitioned home thru the partial program, the partial clients are asked to step down again to the IOP program for further support as they slowly re-integrate back into their home school. At discharge, clients are given individualized detailed discharge plans that include outpatient therapy appointments and recommendations for continued care and support. This type of continued support is unparallel in adolescent residential care.
